Why China?
By the end of 2008 including cities of Hong Kong and Taiwan, China has established metro lines in 12 cities with total mileage of 775.6 km. Caused by the financial crisis, China’s central government instantly adjusted its macroeconomic policies with huge amount of investment up to RMB 4 trillion into national infrastructure in order to stimulate domestic demand for the stable annually economic growth. It’s reported that currently there are more than 40 cities in the construction or planning for metro lines in China. Furthermore, the state has recently approved 17 urban rail transit proposals. By 2015 those 17 cities will have built 65 metro lines with total length of 1856 km under the investment of RMB 675.5 billion. Without any doubts, China has become the biggest Urban Rail Transit market in the world. 2009 will be the golden opportunity for firms to enter or grow within this market despite the economic downturn occurred worldwide.
