Shanghai Shentong Metro Corporation Limited is mainly engaged in local metro operations and other related development referring to rail transit investment. It has become the first listed
company in Chinese urban rail transit investment industry. Currently, the company owns 28 locomotives running in Line 1 as well as the AFC systems. There are 8 metro lines in total in operation managed by Shentong Group. Line 1 has deemed as the most profitable route since opening its operation in 1990s.

Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Rail Transit Design and Research Institute is engaged in tunnel , underground engineering, rail transportation, water supply, drainage, roads, bridges, planning, architecture, decoration, intelligent systems and environmental protection etc. It has been rewarded as class A qualified consultative unit in reconnaissance, design and surveys.
The institute as one of the
pioneers taking part in the research and design work for Shanghai Rail Transit has been engaged on designing all 13 metro lines in Shanghai City. Besides the involvement into local rail transit design work, the institute has been taking part in the consulting and design work for other cities in China, such as: Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Wuhan, Tianjin, Herbin, Congqing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Chengdu, Changzhou and Fuzhou etc.

Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) is a digital trunked mobile radio standard developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). The purpose of the TETRA standard was to meet the needs of traditional Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) user organisations such as those listed below.
The air interfaces, network interfaces as well as the services and facilities are specified in sufficient detail to enable independent manufacturers develop infrastructure and radio terminal products that would fully interoperate with each other. For example, radio terminals from different manufacturers can operate on infrastructures from other manufacturers.
