For 60 years radar hasn't changed, short high power pulses of microwave energy have been used to detect contacts on the sea surface. SharpEyeTM changes all that. With patented SharpEyeTM technology, Kelvin Hughes has eliminated the magnetron and high voltage modulator from its latest series of radar transceivers and taken detection performance and reliability to a new level unrivalled by the competition.
SharpEyeTM technology enables detection techniques, such as coherency and MTI which are normally only found in multi-million dollar military systems to be available in commercial marine radars.
With no lifed items requiring periodic replacement, SharpEyeTM is a truly 'fit and forget' technology enabling a "lifetime warranty" to be offered to customers for the first time.

Founded in 1946 in Hamburg by a small team around Willi Becker. Main product has been the Becker Flap Rudder, at that time mainly for inland waterway barges and tugs. In the early 70s, Becker acquired the Kort Nozzle patents and also pushed the international sea going shipbuilding market for rudders and nozzles. Also in the 70s, Becker acquired the steering gear business.
In 1998 Hatlapa became shareholder and the successful cooperation of Becker and Hatlapa started. Becker Marine Systems further strengthened it's position in the global marine market with the acquisition of the Schilling Rudder business. Becker Marine Systems UK Ltd. is located in Poole, Dorset.
The Becker worldwide network has been further enhanced in November 2003 with the establishment of a China office, together with the relocation of the Company Headquarters to purpose built offices in Hamburg.
In 2004 the Becker research & development team designed the TLKSR? Twisted Leading Edge Rudder that became a significant sales success throughout the year with continuing demand in the present year. In 2006, Becker Marine Systems is looking at 6 decades of success in the maritime industry and is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
